Georgia's Operator Certification Program Survey
GA EPD is conducting a formal review of Georgia's Operator Certification Program and we need your assistance! All certified operators holding active licenses in the field(s) of water treatment, wastewater treatment, laboratory, distribution, and/or collections are encouraged to complete a short online survey in order to assess Georgia's Operator Certification Program. Participation in this survey will be entirely anonymous, and the results will be provided to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division and the Georgia Secretary of State's Office (in summary form only). This information will serve as a basis on which to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Georgia's certification program. The results from this comprehensive survey will be compiled and the final documentation will be provided in an upcoming edition of The Georgia Operator and posted here online at www.gawp.org .

If you have any additional questions that you believe would be pertinent to this program, please send them to bwagoner@gawp.org . This program will only be effective if we acquire the correct information on Georgia's Operator Certification Program. Thank you in advance for your time and efforts on behalf of GAWP and GA EPD!

Participate in the online survey.
Statewide Water Management Planning
In response to the water resource challenges facing Georgia, Governor Barnes proposed and the General Assembly adopted Senate Resolution 142 during the 2001 legislative session. SR142 created the 23 member Joint Comprehensive Water Plan Study Committee and the 50 member Water Plan Advisory Committee. The Vinson Institute of Government is providing staff support for the study committee’s efforts. This page provides detailed information on the activities of the study committee and advisory committees as they work to develop the framework for the state water management plan and identify actions the state should take to better manage water resources.
Financing Capital Improvements for SSO Abatement
A web site is now available that provides information financing capital improvements to reduce the frequency of sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs). SSOs are discharges of raw sewage from municipal sanitary sewer systems. SSOs can release untreated sewage into basements, out of manholes, onto city streets, onto playgrounds and into streams before it reaches a treatment facility, posing a substantial health and environmental threat. This web site provides general information on the various types of funding mechanisms available to sanitary sewer system owners and/or operators. In addition to this general outline of funding possibilities, it provides specific information on the different types of bonds, loans, grants and other funding options and also offers a sense of when a type of funding is appropriate. A planning resource has also been established on the fact sheet website to further provide assistance in capital improvement projects.

Water, Wastewater, and Private Water Rate Surveys
This site has some great information on water conservation pricing and recent surveys on water and wastewater rates. It also has good information on how to make an informed decision on water filters, cost/benefit analyses, and much more.
National Compliance Assistance Clearinghouse
EPA, state agencies, and other stakeholders have jointly developed a National Compliance Assistance Clearinghouse to provide the regulated community, including water utilities, with a central national network for finding information quickly and allowing them to communicate with each other more effectively. The NCAN is a "one-stop" site that allows users to view a collection of compliance assistance materials, and inform EPA about their compliance needs.

GEFA Georgia Water and Wastewater Rate Survey
Water and wastewater rate setting is one of a local government's most important environmental and public health responsibilities. Water and wastewater rates ultimately determine how much revenue a community will have to maintain vital infrastructure. The purpose of this document is to help utilities in rate setting by providing an up-to-date, detailed survey of rate structures and to provide a basic analysis of some of the factors which may affect rates across the State.
