GAWP would like to invite you to become a Utility or Corporate Member. Historically, our Association's primary focus has been to provide education and training opportunities for people working in the water and wastewater field, and we are continually expanding and enhancing our services to our membership. In addition, the Association has increased the scope of its activities and the depth of its involvement, becoming a prominent, authoritative source of information on water-related issues to the General Assembly and other elected officials, the media, and the public.
The participation of Utility and Corporate Members provides essential input and financial support to GAWP in conducting the activities of our expanded role. This membership class currently includes over 150 public utilities and private companies. Becoming a Utility or Corporate Member enhances the individual membership of your employees by keeping your organization connected to GAWP in expanded ways, and also provides your utility with supplemental benefits not available to individual members.
We are continually adding new benefits for Utility and Corporate Membership. For example: our website includes a listing of our Utility and Corporate Members, divided by category (Utilities, Industries, Consultants, Manufacturers' Representatives, Laboratories, etc.). We have recently expanded this to include a description of products and services provided by these members, along with an optional hyperlink to the member's website. This is fast becoming a virtual directory of products and services available in the water industry in Georgia. When we get calls (which we frequently do) asking what engineering firms provide certain services, what firm handles certain types of equipment, etc., we refer them to our website. Placement on this site is available as a benefit to our Corporate and Utility Members only. This is already a valuable benefit to our Corporate Members, and we envision it becoming an increasingly valuable asset to our Utility Members, as they begin listing their points of contact for public information, consumer confidence reporting, etc.
Another new service we have recently added is the creation of our Gold Awards Program. This program, available only to our Corporate and Utility Members, provides recognition to wastewater treatment facilities which consistently achieve compliance with their NPDES, Land Application System, or Industrial Pretreatment Permits. We are currently evaluating the feasibility of expanding this program to cover water treatment facilities, safety programs, and other areas.
We have also recently initiated a major new program which will be available only to our Utility Members. Our Utility Executive Forum will enable key utility leaders to come together for a one to two day workshop on a regular basis for an open and candid discussion of hot topics. This forum will enable our Utility Members to share their successes and failures, to learn from each other, and to identify key areas of focus for the Association. One good idea learned from one of your fellow utility managers in such a setting could pay the price of your Utility Membership for years to come.
