What kind of people are you looking for to volunteer?
Gotta mirror handy? The person you’re looking at is the person we need! There is a range of opportunities and something for everyone.
What’s in it for me if I decide to volunteer?
The benefits of volunteering are extensive. Check out the Why Volunteer? section to learn more.
I heard I can get a free registration to the conference if I volunteer – is that true?
Yes, there is a limited number of free registrations for volunteers who are AWWA members and who commit to at least 8 hours of on-site service during the conference. This is a full registration for the entire 5-day conference, as well as a pass to the exhibit hall. However, because the need for volunteers is greater than the number of free registrations that the Local Host Committee has been provided by AWWA, we are reserving the free registrations for those who do not typically attend a national conference, or whose employer cannot financially support attendance. You can discuss this in more detail with the Committee Chair overseeing the area where you’re interested in volunteering.
Do I have to be an AWWA member to volunteer?
Yes, if you would like to receive a free conference registration as mentioned above. If you are not already a member of AWWA, it’s not too late to join! Contact GAWP's office (mfloyd@gawp.org or 770-618-8690) to check your membership status or to learn how to join AWWA.
Who do I contact if I want to volunteer?
Check out the Volunteer Opportunities section to determine which area you’re interested in, and contact the Committee Chair responsible (contact information is provided there for your convenience).
Is there a form I need to fill out?
Yes, go to Sign-Up Form.
How much time will I be asked to commit?
Volunteers are asked to commit at least 8 hours. Depending on the area in which you’d like to serve, this may be broken up over more than one day, or it may be all in one day.
Where is the conference being held? Is that where I’ll be volunteering?
The conference will be at the Georgia World Congress Center downtown. The majority of volunteers will be serving there, although some will be stationed at the various "host hotels" around the city. Others will be participating at sites such as the tour facilities or the golf course. Check with the Committee Chair overseeing your area of interest for more information.
